History
Intermat
In 1977, Martin Wessel and Jan van Velsen started the company Intermat, then an abbreviation for InterieurMaterialen. A success story was started in Mijdrecht with the sale of kitchens and tiles.
expansion
After the oil crisis in the 1980s, a showroom with quality products for inspiration for consumers was steadily built. Forays into the sale of fireplaces, bedroom closets and the addition of bathroom sales, the company has grown into a major player in the residential market, offering total solutions to new home buyers.
take-over
In 2003, Jan Jaap van der Neut became co-owner of the company, taking over the companies in their entirety in 2007. In the meantime, Intermat Tegeltechniek had become a fully-fledged part of the company and in 2013 the family business Goedhart Kitchens was purchased.
Goedhart
Goedhart Kitchens started in 1919 with a wholesaler of building materials. In the next 100 years, the company has grown into an organization with eighteen branches and the fourth generation is at the helm. As an Intergamma franchisee, Goedhart operates seventeen GAMMA and KARWEI DIY stores in the Randstad conurbation. She is also still active in the building materials wholesale business with Bouwcenter Goedhart.
A special moment in the growth of the traditional building materials business was the expansion to the sale of kitchens in 1965. The kitchen department grew into Goedhart Kitchens as the largest dealer in the Netherlands of the well-known brand SieMatic. With the takeover by Intermat, the two specialists were merged to serve the entire Randstad area.
renovation
With the major renovation in 2014, a showroom was set up in Alphen a/d Rijn that was way ahead of its time. With this, Goedhart was also named Best Kitchen Shop in 2015.
head office
From one head office in Mijdrecht, 50 employees work on Intermat's mission every day: to let the customer enjoy a surprisingly beautiful kitchen, bathroom or tiled floor.
